20 Time Project

    -What happened over the last cycle? A lot has transpired since my last post. After finally deciding on my educational product, I made significant progress in its setup. I began pulling information from my source list and tweeting it on my account. I want to cover so many facets of mass incarceration, but I especially wanted to cover some statistics about my home state of Arizona. I began looking into the carceral state of Arizona specifically and posted some information on my Twitter. Other progress I made included sprucing up my profile by adding a profile photo and a header. I am just about nearing the completion of my project! I am excited at the progress I have made not just in my project but also in my other classwork.     -What happened over the last cycle? Over the last cycle since my last post, I have really hunkered down and decided on what educational product I want to deliver. I am going to synthesize the information I find in my sources into a Twitter account feed. In our current day and age, digital media and marketing is hugely popular. Being able to directly share my finding into a short form tweet will allow me to reach a wide range of audiences. I also have finished documenting my research wiki which I will be using for my educational product. I also was able to finish more of my textbook readings and class discussions allowing me more time to devote to this project.             -What did you learn (be specific!)? A ton!   -What happened over the last cycle? Since the last time I posted, quite a bit has happened. I've begun to realize how much I will need to accomplish in such a short time. This class is a quick eight-week section, and we are already five-ish weeks in! In the last couple days I've gone back over the assignment requirements for my educational product. There are quite a few components required for a quality educational product to be delivered. While I would love to be ambitious and accomplish a massively impactful product, I need to be mindful I really only have two more weeks to get it done at this point in time. What makes it even more difficult is the holiday season is right upon us with Thanksgiving. In addition to all this, I have 20 credits this semester worth of work to get through. Beginning my 20 Time Project I had a few hurdles to overcome. I am beginning this project a week late, so I have some extra work to complete in the next week or two to get caught up and on schedule. In addition, I have to do some more research and investigation to find scholarly sources to support my project. Luckily I work well under pressure and am excited to get to work. For my 20 Time Project, my topic of choice is Systemic Racism: Incarceration and the Criminal Justice System.  I'm still deciding on what education product I want to create about my topic, but I have been ruminating on the ideas of an Instagram account, an informational video, or a display poster/infographic on mass incarceration.  In my initial research findings, I have learned that the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world.
